In our recent article \u201cWhy US companies are using offshore software development companies?<\/a>\u201d we explored the reasons for outsourcing outside the US. However, there are two approaches to relying upon outside companies for project development: staffing and outsourcing. In this article, I will go over the pros and cons of each one.<\/p>\n

Additionally, software developers must possess a variety of skills in order to design, create, and deploy complex applications, including programming languages, computer architecture, software testing and debugging, software maintenance and security, and system engineering. Successful software developers must also be adept at working within teams, so finding the right personnel is a key for success.<\/p>\n

What is outsourcing software development?<\/h2>\n

Outsourcing software development is the process of having another company or individual creates a customized software solution to meet your unique needs. Outsourcing software development can save your organization time, money and resources by taking advantage of the specialized skill sets, experience and technical knowledge of experts in the field. When outsourcing software development, you will typically contract a vendor or specialist to design and develop your solution. The result is a comprehensive and tailored software system that is custom-built for your organization.<\/p>\n

Difference between staffing and outsourcing<\/h2>\n

Staffing and outsourcing both refer to bringing in help from outside a company to assist with operations, but they involve different strategies. With staffing, an organization retains ownership and management of the resources used. They may outsource the recruitment process but ultimately manage the employees, control how tasks are completed, and handle issues such as wages and benefits. On the other hand, outsourcing is a longer-term strategy, with the company relinquishing control to an outside provider, who will often handle the majority of tasks associated with a particular project.<\/p>\n
